"Yeah, but this time, we mean it!"

Hollywood actors are saying — once again — that they’re leaving the States if Bush wins again.

Here’s a question that should be of interest to you no matter where

your political affliation lies: of those actors who claimed they’d

leave if Bush won in 2000, how many actually followed through on their

promise?

(Former White House Press Secretary and fellow alum from my high school Pierre Salinger

said ”If Bush wins, I’m going to leave the country and spend the rest

of my life in France” and followed through on his promise, but I’m

aware of no actor who’s done the same.)

Best Election-Related Convo from Saturday Night

The scene: My coworker Kim’s Halloween party. My housemate Paul (who is American and whose parents live in Florida) is having a conversation about the election.

Paul: I voted with an absentee ballot, and I’m registered to vote in Florida.

Jen: Florida? Aren’t you worried that your vote will get lost or miscounted?

Paul: No, I told them I was white.

Best Wishes on the Upcoming Election and Recount!

Good luck, American friends (and especially the American fiancee)!

A quick reminder to all you visible minority American voters: the Republican Party strongly encourages you to make your vote count on November 3rd!

“You Forgot the Poles!” Alleged fake voter advisory from Jefferson County, Alabama.

“Your children will get taken away from you.” Alleged fake voter advisory from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

“You will not be able to vote until the next election…We apologize for these problems.” Alleged fake voter advisory from Lake County, Ohio.

More details in this Daily Kos story.

Congrats to everyone on making American politics more like Marcos-era Filipino politics!

Heavy-Hearted Endorsements for Kerry

Photo: Cover of 'The Economist', featuring photos of Bush and Kerry. Heading is: 'The Incompetent or the Incoherent?'

The havey-hearted endorsements are popping up: The Economist, Andrew Sullivan and even Mr. “The End of History” and one of the signers of the Statement of Principles for the Project for the New American Century, Francis Fukuyama.

There’s even a blog called Kerry Haters for Kerry, which by the bye is hosted by our friends at BlogHarbor and powered by our blogging tool, Blogware.

Blog Anniversaries, Corrected

Meg pointed out to me that she started her blog in May 1999, so it’ll be six

years old in May, not five as I reported in yesterday’s blog entry. She

also pointed out that if it were a kid, it would be ready for the first grade. My blog would’ve just been a recent toilet trainee.
