At GheeHappy.com

(ghee is Indian clarified butter), you’re going to find a goregously

cute site devoted to Indian culture. The artwork is gorgeous, from the highly stylized rendition of the Hindu gods to the playful typography that gives the site an India flavour without falling into cliche.

GheeHappy is the creation of Sanjay Patel, who in addition to having an interesting site also has an interesting job: he works at Pixar.

Here are some of his renditions of the Hindu gods…

Ganesha. “Please do not offer my god a peanut.”

Kali. This looks like what will happen to me if I am late to pick up Wendy from the aiport again.

Rama. He bears a striking resemblance to Roger Ramjet in both name and appearance.

Shiva. For the destroyer of worlds, he’s pretty cute.

“Launch lucrative toys!…erm, I mean, fighters!”

If you know where to look, you can find both the script and the comic book adaptation of the upcoming Star Wars installment, Revenge of the Sith…

“I have you now, Saruman!…er, I mean, Count Dooku!”

Anyone know where I can get my hands on any of those old Warner

Brothers cartoons featuring Spike the bulldog and Chester the terrier?

Their cartoons always start with Chester bouncing around Spike, going

“C’mon, Spike, let’s do somethin’!”. Chester would suggest an activity, to which Spike respond with a “Naaaah!” and

slap Chester, who would fly backwards into a nearby wall. Chester would chuckle, brush himself off and say

“Yeah, that was a dumb idea,” then look at the camera and say “I like

Spike, ’cause Spike’s my friend!”

OK, so apparently the STAR TREK fans raised

more than $3 million dollars to try to save Star Trek Enterprise from

cancellation. What do you think they should do with their money if they

are unsuccessful?

a) hire many women for pleasure
b) donate it to the Aspergers foundation
c) start a fund to send kids to space camp
d) start a sci-fi fiction endowment fund

Normally, when I salute someone, I say “A filet mignon on a flaming

sword to you!” However, AKMA’s family are all vegetarian, so I shall

accomodate Pippa’s diet: “A grilled portobello on a flaming sword to

you!”

According to Google, I own the phrase “I’ve seen better paper after wiping my ass”. I might donate it to NOW magazine, though.

I missed the Torontoist announcement about the meeting of the Social

Technology Brewing Co., who describe themselves on their web page as…

an informal gathering of people working on, or interested in, the

intersection of technology and the not-for-profit community in

Vancouver and Toronto. The simple mandate is for people from tech,

business and local not-for-profit organizations get together over

beers, on a monthly basis, to discuss how technology can be used for

positive social change.

Apparently, they had some kind of gathering tonight and I was unaware of it until now. I should get on their mailing list…
