My current favourite song…

…is Small by Lamb, off their album What Sound. A melancholy but beautiful synthpop gem with my all-time favourite chord progression, I – V – flat VII – IV. I may have to learn it on accordion.

And if any of you Big Content guys are reading this: would you like to know how I discovered the song, which led me to find out more about the band and purchase the album? Internet radio — namely one of my fave stations, Evil Dildo — which you idiots are trying to kill in your war on innovation.

Small

by Lamb

from their album “What Sound”

Sometimes I climb high above the city

To see all the lights shining they’re so pretty

And think of the millions of lives going on

At this present moment

And those come and gone

And it makes me float free

To feel how small my life must be

And it makes me float free

To feel how small my life must be

Whenever I can I go down to the sea

And wonder at how many miles there must be

And all of the people on all of its shores

At this present moment

And those gone before

And it makes me float free

To feel how small my life must be

And it makes me float free

To feel how small my life must be

Sometimes I’m out in a bustling street

Dazzled by all of the faces I see

It strikes me we get lost so soon after birth

But one smile can turn over heaven and earth

And it makes me float free

To feel how small my life must be

And it makes me float free

To feel how small my life must be

And it makes me float free

To feel how small my life must be

And it makes me float free

To feel how small my life must be

The Thirsty People of Toronto are gathering again

The Thirsty People of Toronto are gathering tonight at Vinnie’s (22 Duncan Street, at Adelaide) for the usual good conversation and booze-fueled mayhem. And believe me, after the craptacular weekend I had, a little booze-fueled mayhem will do me good.

“Squeal like a pig, boy!” Trysh the Fish claims another victim at last week’s TPT meeting at the Cameron House. When I said “booze-fueled” mayhem, I wasn’t kidding. Click to see at full size.

See you there!

Another observation

They say that the Chinese pictogram for the word “crisis” is also used for the word “opportunity”.

(The smartass would come back by saying that some of them view “dog” and “dinner” as the same thing.)

It’s Fall!

Welcome to the Autumn Equinox! From here through to mid-December, the nights get longer.

Being an ambitious kind of guy, I got a head start on the season and had a weekend’s worth of long — and craptacular — nights. After those, Fall’s going to be a cakewalk.

The Law of Averages (math pedants: I know, I know…) says that I’m not due for another weekend like that one for a long time. Good.

An Observation

Nobody says “things happen for a reason” to people when good things happen to them.
