Okay, I’m Going to Have to Buy “Doom 3” Now

Latest Update: Quentin Smith is hosting the file here. Muchas gracias, Quentin!

Update:
The server got hammered, so the file’s been taken offline.

Judging by this video [7.8 MB Windows Media], Doom 3
is either a very scary video game, or these two have a budding career
in horror-slasher films playing “the killer’s first two victims”.

Warning: You might want to turn down your computer speakers before playing this video. These guys scream like hyenas in a wood chipper.

I’ll bet these kids look exactly the same when they place the winning bid on eBay. Click the picture to see the video.

Viva Vivi

Tonight at the Drake Hotel (1150 Queen Street West, two blocks east of Dufferin) my friend Diana Galligan will be performing a one-woman comedic play she wrote called Viva Vivi! Here’s her synopsis:

It’s 1928. Meet Vivi Vitaly – a silent
film star with big problems. A runaway husband, a mountain of debt and
one shot to turn her life around. A comic look at changing with the
times.

The show starts at 9:30. I’ll be there a little beforehand to mingle
with the crowd, enjoy a pint of the darkest beer they have on tap, say
hello to my fellow members of the Thirsty People of Toronto and make sure I get a good seat.

All in a Single Frame

Here’s a single frame from the “at the desk” sequence of my CTV interview from a couple of days ago, annotated. It tells a lot:

CTV Appearance

Yesterday morning, David Akin in his CTV News guise (he’s also with the Globe and Mail) asked if he could drop by Tucows along with intrepid camerman Lucien and interview both Boss Ross and me about Google as part of a piece on their IPO. We said “come on down!” and an hour later, he was here conducting interviews.

Here’s Boss Ross in his office.

And
here I am. While “Technical Community Development Coordinator” is my
actual title, it’s just too hard to explain and wouldn’t fit on the
screen anyway.

“Carpenters need hammers, internet guys need Google.” Hah! I slay me! I am the Soundbite King!

Ross has posted the video in his latest entry — you can either get the video there or download it from me [1.9 MB Windows Media]. Take your pick!

It’s all in the comments section of the
post in which I ask people to list some “must-know” Canadian rock and
pop tunes from the 80s and 90s that never made it outside our borders
. Check it out.
