We’re less than a month away from November 13th, the day Accordion City votes for its mayor. I’d be slacking on my civic duty if I didn’t point you to what I feel is the best damned blog on the election: Spacing Votes, a part of Spacing magazine’s web site.
Spacing Votes does an excellent job rounding up the news stories from the media as well as providing their own commentary — commentary so good that candidate Jane Pitfield’s team plagiarized it in one instance.

Miller promised a more open & less backrooom City Hall. We got a 3/4 BILLION subway deal that was untendered & was hatched in the backroom. Meanwhile, Siemens (not exactly a mom & pop operation) offered to do it for 1/3 less. You, me & Joe/Jane Taxpayer will pay for this for years.
Miller promised a less politicized approach to City Hall. Instead, we got him directing the ouster of Chief Fantino (best damn chief in 30 yrs) through his minions on the Police Board, particularly, fellow lefty, Pam McConnell.
Miller wants increased development on the Waterfront. Instead, he commissions a study on what tot do with the Gardiner for about a million bucks & then hides the report for as long as he could b/c all of the options recommended were too costly. (BTW, why spend all that money just because something is ugly & needs beautification? I say spend the cash on schools, shelter & social services before you let your ego spend it on looking good. Regardless of what you do, the CNR tracks wil alsways be there as a true barrier to the waterfront.)
The city has more crime, more backroom politicking, less services, higher traffic and congestion & higher taxes than 3 years ago. You decide for yourself if Miller & his cronies are doing a good job.
