After months of sub-zero temperatures without a break, Toronto finally got a much-needed thaw, only to be hit soon after with yet another snowstorm and temperatures cold enough to merit a weather alert. Hang in there, Toronto friends.

At this year’s edition of South by Southwest Interactive (SxSWi) — the annual convention/circle-jerk of techies in Austin, Texas — New York City-based photographer Nick McGlynn has just declared geek victory. By tooling about Austin on a Segway while wearing Google Glass and using his smartphone at the same time, he’s just simultabeously won and lost SxSWi, as well as symbolized “why Southby can’t have nice things anymore, encapsulated in one man,” as my friend Karen Geier quipped.

Hey, when they leave a throne, a robe, a crown, and jumbo-sized bottles of Crown Royal at the Duty Free Shop with minimal supervision, there ain’t no stopping me from turning it into a photo op.
