Exactitudes

Exactitudes is a photography project in which photographer Ari Versluis and stylist Ellie Uyttenbroek have documented the various styles of different social groups — gothgirls, sk8rs, suits, ravers and so on — by finding subjects who belong to the same subculture and taking photos of them in the exact same pose. The effect is pretty striking: you quickly discover that in one’s attempt to express their own individuality, one often ends up looking like a helluva lot of other people.
