How Many Digits of pi Do You Know? [Updated]

• I can recall it to 50 places, I guess I'm swinging a big one.

• You know what? In Mexico they just told us it was 3.1416 and that's how they tough it to us.

• There have been studies showing that most people can only remember 7 items/digits of anything. ( http://www.livescience.com/health/080428-working-memory.html ) I know pi up to 3.1415926 (and I know the 6 is a 7 rounded up) so that's in the "good enough for most scientists" field AND almost within the "amount of numbers normal people can remember."
  Conclusion: I'm normal!

• Wikipedia has a couple of tips on memorizing the digits of pi.

  What's more important is knowing what pi means (it's the ratio of a circle's circumference to its radius) and how it keeps popping up all over the place in math and science, not just in geometry.

• I apparently fit into the dick category, but I can't compare to people I used to know.

  Does that mean that I need a Piloop?
