Work

Today’s scene from late-stage capitalism

I can already hear management’s response: “80 hours? Those are rookie numbers.”

Be sure to read the article, which includes this gem:

The survey recommended maximum 80-hour work weeks with no work on Saturday or after 9pm on Friday.

  • I have a relative who took that route. On the up side, the pay is good, and so are the benefits. It's horrible, awful work, basically hazing with some actual productivity here and there. Did I mention overtime, late night car service, in office meal catering, the bonuses? It's still awful and soul destroying, but crap work with long hours and a nasty work environment is the post-Reagan norm in the US.
