Funny or Die’s The Wire: The Musical (starring actual castmembers of The Wire, including Michael Kenneth Williams, who played “Omar” in the series) does a stunning job of pointing out how cliche-ridden the musical format has become and how the typical musical works so poorly for modern urban settings.
