City of Toronto and Unions Made a Deal

…which means that if it’s ratified on Wednesday, the strike will well and truly be over. If that happens, garbage collection and other services provided by the people represented by CUPE Locals 416 and 79 could theoretically be back by Thursday. For reasons unknown and unfathomable to me, it has been said that services could take days or weeks to resume.

If ratified, I wonder how many garbage staff will be working on the civic holiday at an inflated rate

I assume it means it’ll take days or weeks to clear the backlog of work that’s been piling up for the last 5 weeks.

Having spent several days in Accorion City, recently, it amazes me that the city remained as orderly as it did. So few metropolitan areas of similar size could or would have done the same. Kudos to the residents of Toronto. All of that said, I’m happy for all concerned that the end of the strike is in sight.
