Strike Me Down, and Another Shall Rise to Take My Place

I no longer live in Accordion City’s Queen/Spadina neighbourhood and therefore don’t play there very often anymore. Luckily that doesn’t mean that they’re lacking for the accordion: there was a guy playing a fine little red number there earlier this afternoon:

Squeeze on, good sir!

That looks like my second Accordion, from 1968! I long for it like orson wells longed for Rosebud.
Is the new boxman busker entertaining? does he play rock and roll like you, Joey?

On a complete tangent, I saw Bassoon Guy, Jeff Burke, busking on Church St. during the festivities on Sunday.
He’s upped the ante though.
He has a foot pedal sampler that he’ll play the bass line into and then play it back in real time and accompany.
At first I couldn’t figure out what he was doing when I heard 2 notes at the same time.
I thought maybe the Bassoon had a drone like a bagpipe or chords like an accordion [Yeah. I am stoopid. I know. Thanks.] and asked how the hell he was doing it.
It was pretty cool.
He does have a request list which includes the standard rock favorites all the way to Thelonious Monk which is, quite simply, insane…
