I don't know. If getting lots of publicity is the goal, they're doing an excellent job. I think they just don't understand the difference between publicity that gets lots of exposure and publicity that is effective in accomplishing goals. It's sorta like spam. If you blindly cast a wide enough net, you'll reach the same number of people receptive to your message as if you had thought about what you're doing -- but you'll upset the rest of the recipients.
