[...] A macbook - top of my list, this. I’m currently working on a PC laptop with Windows Vista, which has been known to reduce me to real-life tears. This isn’t helped by friends saying, “Well, I’ve got a mac and it just works.” Yeah, thanks for that. But sometimes I get to laugh through the tears at pictures like this one by Joey deVilla: [...]

Congrats, guess the fewest travels to great places go in a straight line.

I had recently actually wondered what had happened, but for some reason your blog feed always seems to fall out of my feed reader and I only notice later then (not your fault, it's more an information overload on my end).

So does your new job take you out west as well? Or are you stricktly TO only?

It was great, and I am honored, to have been able to meet you at SXSW and work with you even shortly with b5media. I'm very interested in your experiences working with Microsoft and can't wait to see the results of your involvement in the "sea change" that will be taking place at Microsoft in the future.

@harvestbird: Good question! I think the answer is worthy of its own blog entry, so if you can wait a day or two, I shall provide it.

Joey, That is a well written essay. I hope you do go for the book deal. Your public explanation of your unemployment experience, specifically the 10 post series on the lay-off from b5 was insightful; I've pointed a lot of people to it recently.

Congratulations on finding fit, and happy new year.

Congratulations on your continuing employment and your reflection thereon. What I would like to ask--to such extent that I move from lurkitude to commenthood--is something on which you may not wish to comment further: when did you realise the difference between your interest in the startup for which you left Tucows and the reality of employment there? There must have been a gap between what was offered and the reality, a gap that was not perceptible in the advertised position and which only became apparent once you became an employee. In other words, when did your heart sink? And what advice for job-seekers would you glean from that part of the experience?
