Bookstaircase

by Joey deVilla on February 20, 2008

When the Ginger Ninja and I finally purchase that house, I’d love to rig one of the rooms to have the “bookstaircase” shown in the photo below. The photo is taken from this article in the Apartment Therapy website:

Whoa, I think I just wet myself with excitement!

I have gotta get me one of those.

Of course, the fact that I find creative bookshelves exciting probably just underlines my geekyness, or my bibliophillia, or both.

Or perhaps the fact that I have read this blog for *muffle* years does that all by itself. Yeah, that’s probably it.

Certainly looks neat, but my apartment-dweller minimalist side says “learn to use your library card”.

Typical rental property climate/humidity control + giant wad o’books = hello mildew and bugs.

I think I just came a little.

I count at least three violations of the Ontario Municipal Building Code: lack of railing, pitch to steep, irregular treads, and (if that door is a standard 6′8″ height) too narrow.

They’re fire code violations too, so even if you did the work yourself you’d have to rip it out before selling.
