They're just taking everything you ever watched as a child and cranking out sixteen sequels to it. But each sequel features a different sidekick / bad guy! That's creative! And Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson with slightly different names but essentially the same characters and story arc. But hey, different character names -- that takes creativity! How much creativity are we expecting for a mere 6 bucks per hour, anyway? =) But of course Hollywood is being creative.
