@Geoffrey Wiseman: You're correct, it was TSOT.

As you might already know, since then, I've switched over to b5media, where I hold the title of "Nerd Wrangler".

As someone who watches a lot of jobs go by in Toronto, I probably saw that posting, and I'm curious which one it was. Thinking back to that timeframe -- TSOT?

Hey Joey,
Great post.
On the 'ass theme' - Torben had a work mate who was Romanian. When they got laid off at the same time, his Romanian co-worker said, "well, what we say in Romania is 'every kick in the ass is a step forward'. I've always looked upon my layoffs that way.

I know that you've chosen to go for this gig but no matter what challenges you face, it will be a step forward!

Joey —

I remember hearing about the roots of this post at FacebookCamp2! Glad it worked out so well, both in terms of the story (which is great!) and in terms of the job (which also sounds great!).

Good luck!

"You do realize that this posts screams for a video of the Accordion Guy dropping his pants and giving us a demonstration, right?"

I'm certain you are mistaken.

Joey - an excellent article that makes complete sense. I'm also approaching that similar moment in time where I'm making that decision to head off into new and exciting territories.

(Brought about by blogging - which as you are one of the reasons why I started blogging makes it partially *your* fault...)

Strangely enough I also use the phrase 'rocket up my arse'.

The only thing that I worry about is if this is a symptom of a mid-life crisis.

...on the other hand - even if it is, it'l be *fun*.

I wish you the best of luck Joey, have fun fella!

Logical Philosopher and Thomas: I'm glad you enjoyed the entry, guys!

When writing it, I was a bit worried that it would be the sort of story that makes sense only to oneself, or worse, that all it would do is convince people that I've picked up some kind of fireworks fetish.

That was, by far, the *absolute best* lead in to changing jobs.

In fact, it crystalized the bottle in my ass I'm been pondering for a few months.

Now, at the very least, I have a name for the thoughs I've been going through as well.

So cool.
