When Homer sits on the SpineMelter chair in the second “Unkie Herb” episode, there is an homage to the end of 2001 as well. Pretty much shot for shot.

There are also numerous references to 2001 in the episode where Homer becomes an astronaut, “Deep Space Homer”.
