In Fact, I Was at the Malls of Montezuma, Checking Out the Stores of Tripoli

by Joey deVilla on February 27, 2007

Photo of Marine barracks whiteboard that says: 'America is not at war. The marines are at war. America is at the mall.'

It’s a tough job, and whether or not you agree with the U.S. administration’s policies, you’ve got to hand it to the marines for doing a job that many politicians (and their families) don’t want to do.

(Psst! Don’t understand the title of this article? It’s adapted from the first lines of the Marines’ Hymn.)

A couple of the maps in the linked article draw depictions of America spending on war, as well as America at war. There are further interesting observations of various countries under various metrics. check it out. /rd
