What I wanted to point out was that it <em>is</em> possible for people with diametrically opposed politics to agree on many areas. It's always too easy to fall into the trap where we assume the worst of our opponents in all dimensions. As you and wendy have said in so many ways, intolerance can't be dressed up to pass for intelligent thought. I have never met this person, but that kind of writing always sets off red flags. At its most benign, using dismissive and hateful generalizations is a sign of a lazy intellect and a narcissistic urge to be a provocateur. At its worst, well...where do i begin? But clearly she is horribly misinformed, and I would be very reluctant to have brunch with her because what happens when she turns that hatred on Jews, Americans, pro-choice people, all of which are likely/possible at one point or another? I am all of those and more things she might not like. I don't like having brunch with people who hate me, even if they don't say so. Same God you worship, and Jews worship, despite the differences in practice. So no, no meals with Right Girl for now. Debate, sure, but not over a meal, you know, stress upsets my stomach. Oh dear.
