Our engagement has been public less than two weeks, and it’s already made the paper!
For those of you living in the Greater Accordion City area, the Toronto section in today’s Globe and Mail section has a story written by Ryan “The Bigge Idea” Bigge on our engagement titled titled A Match Made in Bloggers’ Heaven.
(For those of you not from Canada, The Globe and Mail is one of Canada’s two national daily newspapers.)
Last Thursday, Ryan interviewed me at noon; later that evening, the Globe sent a photographer to my house to get some pictures of me (with accordion, natch). I also provided them with a high-resolution version of one of my favourite pictures of Wendy:
This is my fourth appearance in the Saturday Globe and Mail in the past year (the other three being a version of my Longing and Shorting entry, my contribution to the book Never Threaten to Eat Your Coworkers: The Best of Blogs and a piece on the Secret Swing). It will be Wendy’s first appearance, which is pretty good for someone who hasn’t even moved here yet!
I’ve only seen the online edition, so I have no idea if they used the photos or not. I’m running out to buy a stack right now.
Once again, the online version of the article is here.
My thanks to Ryan Bigge, Tibor from the Globe’s photo department and section editor Carol Toller!

Congratulations to you both on this wonderful news …
From somebody who has never met either of you !!
( Now Boston has two reasons to celebrate, and America can stop complaining about Canada )
Congratulations from Joshua Day

just read it. joe asked if he could come to the birthday/engagement party. I told him “no, it’s PG”.
There was a guy at our corner signing people up for free Globe and Mail, but I didn’t take him up on it. If I had, I may have seen the article.
Congrads Joey and Wendy! Many Happy Years Together of Blogging!
How is that a big fat deal (”it’s already made the paper!”) if you’re friends with Ryan?
I didn’t know Ryan. Aside from knowing that he’s seen me at Kickass Karaoke, I had never exchanged more than a “Hey there” with him until the interview.
Hey Joey
Congrats on the impending nuptials.
One quibble — you of all people should know that Canada now has THREE national newspapers: The Globe, The Post, and Golden Words.
Cheers,
BedHead
Thanks! Always a pleasure to hear from the McGillicuddy brothers!
