Carson T. Foster, impresario extraordinaire and host of Kickass Karaoke, has posted his photos from last Sunday’s session. One of my favourite photos was of me and the gang performing Eminem’s Lose Yourself.

I also have a photo album of that night, but haven’t captioned it yet. Go take a look, and feel free to make up your own captions. try lines like “Doctor Crusher, you’ve started a warp core breach…in my pants!”

Yes, there are photos of Punk Rock Girl and Angry Girlfriend (mentioned in this entry) in that set. Y’know, they didn’t look so scary in real life.

A geeky aside

While Carson was cueing up the song, I hopped on the mic and tried my Lord of the Rings intro to Lose Yourself, passed along to me by Wes Felter:

A couple of weeks back, I improvised part of the first verse to this song. I was busking at the Word on the Street book fair when two girls, about age 12 or 13, came up to me, each bearing an armful of Lord of the Rings picture books. They asked if I could play anything related to the books/movies. I started with the intro and managed to rap this much before laughing:

His palms are sweaty

The Ring’s getting heavy

There’s vomit on his mithril

It’s Sam’s spaghetti

God, I’m such a dork sometimes.
